Introduction
老來學書 is an original teaching handbook. It introduces the concept of a Chinese calligraphy curriculum for the illiterate elderly.
The aim of the curriculum is to teach the elderly who don’t know how to read or write about Chinese calligraphy. Throughout the exercises, they will learn some Chinese words related to their names as well as basic writing skills.
It is my final year project while studying Art & Design in Education. The idea was inspired by my father, who always wants to learn some words, but doesn’t know how to get started. Therefore, I tried to design a curriculum for him and put it into practice.
After a series of lessons and evaluations, my father finally took his first step towards word learning. Pleased with the result, I tried to organize my findings, modify the curriculum, and generate this handbook, 老來學書.
The book includes all details of the curriculum, such as teaching methods, tips, and lesson examples. Readers can use the materials provided in the book, apply the concept of 老來學書 to their dear family members.
